Innovative Nail Polish Display Stand Project
Recently, WOW Display received an exciting project request for a nail polish display stand from an American customer. Referred by a friend, the customer was looking for a display solution that would stand out—something far from ordinary. The acrylic nail polish display rack would be showcased in over 2,000 beauty stores across North America. Despite reviewing several cosmetic display stands, the customer had not found one that truly impressed him. Hearing about WOW's expertise in cosmetic retail display design and production, he decided to give us the opportunity to innovate.
Initial Approach
To begin, WOW's business team presented the customer with several cosmetic display racks we had previously designed. One, in particular, caught the customer's eye: a custom cosmetic display WOW produced for an Australian client in 2018. This display was created for beauty stores and designed to accommodate the irregular shapes of nail polish bottles. We used a dump bin concept where the nail polish would sink in, but remain visible, thanks to transparent plastic pockets. The tapered design, with a narrow top and wide base, provided a sleek and slender appearance, appealing to the predominantly female customer base in beauty stores.
The customer was intrigued by this design but had a few personalized requirements.
Customer's Specific Requirements
The cosmetic display stand must be movable, as beauty stores need the flexibility to change the sales area frequently.
The nail polish display must have 360-degree visibility, meaning the head sign cannot be fixed in one position.
The advertisement on the head sign of the beauty retail display must be replaceable weekly.
The stand needs to hold 222 bottles of nail polish (each bottle measuring 38mm x 20mm x 84mm) and bear 14kg. The display must be durable enough to last at least three months.
Project Team and Solution Development
After clarifying the customer's requirements, WOW established a dedicated project team led by experienced business manager Emma, along with senior engineers Jason and Luke. The team spent two hours in discussion and design verification, eventually proposing an innovative solution that perfectly aligned with the customer's needs.
Key Features of the Nail Polish Display Solution
Retaining the core structure: We kept the overall cosmetic display frame that the customer liked while incorporating additional features to meet all requirements.

This approach was particularly effective for a nail polish display rack intended for mass production and retail environments.
Problem-Solving and Final Adjustments
After seeing the initial design proposal, the customer was impressed by WOW's innovation and efficiency and immediately paid a $100 proofing fee. That same evening, our business manager provided printed die-cut drawings so the customer could finalize the printing files. Within two days of file preparation and one working day of proofing, WOW produced the first sample of the nail varnish display stand.
During load-bearing tests, we discovered that while the stand could support 15kg, the paper base dented when the display was moved, causing the universal wheels to malfunction. We promptly informed the customer and proposed a new solution: adding a 10mm PVC board to the cardboard base to increase the weight distribution area. This change ensured that the wheels could rotate smoothly, even with a load of 20kg. We created a white sample for further testing and sent a video of the results to the customer.
After reviewing the test results, the customer approved the changes and paid a 30% deposit to proceed with production. In just 10 days, WOW delivered 2,000 sets of rotating nail paint display stands as promised.
Project Outcome and Customer Feedback
After approximately one month of sea transportation, the customer received all the nail polish display racks and was extremely satisfied with WOW's performance. The customer praised the innovative design, quality craftsmanship, and seamless communication throughout the project.
